Northend United U11s 4 Ballyclare Comrades U11s 2                                                           Saturday 29th January 2011

This game played at Dunfane started at a slow pace due to the fact Northend played the night before in the NIBFA Cup. The Northend management had to make a few changes due to unavailability of players. It did'nt take long before Northend got on the score sheet after Jamie Stevenson played a great ball through to Daniel Bell who stormed past two Ballyclare players and blasted the ball past the keeper.

Daniel Bell put Northend further ahead when he ran onto a long throw by James Hayburn to out pace his marker and place the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Ballyclare pulled one back before halftime, leaving the score 2-1.
Northend went further in-front when Brandon Millar played a great ball down the line to Daniel Bell who pulled it back to Matthew Kirk and he made no mistake from ten yards out.

Ballyclare were causing lots of trouble down the left wing but when they got to the Northend eighteen the defence of O'Loughlin, Hayburn, Stock and Campbell stopped them in their tracks.

Ballyclare were awarded a penalty when the ball was cleared out of the Northend penalty box, only to strike a Northend player on the arm. Graham McCartney in goals saved it.
Northend further increased their lead when Jordan Adams crossed the ball to the back post for Brandon Millar to score the goal of the game when he volleyed high into the roof of the net to put United 4-1 up. Ballyclare got a second near the end of the game, leaving the final score 4-2 to Northend.

Northend United U11s 1 Carryduff Colts U11s 1                                                    Friday 28th January 2011
[Carryduff won 2-1 on penalties]

This match should have been played in November but due to the poor weather Northend U11s have not played in 11 weeks. Northend welcomed Carryduff to the Showgrounds on Friday night and a great game it turned out to be with both teams attacking at every opportunity.
Northend went infront after Daniel Bell was fouled outside the Carryduff box and up stepped captain Aaron Campbell to drill the ball high into the net to give United the lead. Carryduff were then awarded a free kick straight away outside the Northend eighteen but Josh Mark made a great save to leave Northend going in at half time in the lead 1-0

The second half was a real ding dong with Carryduff looking for a equalizer and Northend looking to extend their lead and both keepers had to be alert. With time ebbing away both teams had chances to score and just when Northend thought they had seen the game out Carryduff scored in injury time when they failed to clear their lines.
There were no goals in extra time so it was left to the dreaded penalty shot out. First up was Aaron Campbell who placed the ball high into the net then Josh Mark in The Northend goal saved three penalties in a row. Unfortunately Northend missed their remaining penalties and with Carryduff scoring their remaining two spot kicks they went through to the next round of the NIBFA Cup. This was a fantastic performance from the U11s.

Northend United U11s 3 Barn United U11s 6                                                                            Saturday 6th November 2010

Northend U11s for the first time this season lost back to back games. United travelled into Barn United's back yard at Carrickfergus and were beated comfortably by a well organized team that was helped by a lack lustre performance from the Northend U11s.
Barn went infront early in unusual circumstances when a Northend player volleyed high into his own net when attempting to clear the ball from a corner. Northend had plenty of possession but gave it away to easily allowing Barn to add two more goals before half time.

Barn United again scored early in the second half before Northend got into the game. After Northend made a double substitution, straight away good work between Jordan Adams and Caleb Thompson led to Northend being awarded a penalty when Thompson was tripped when through on goal. Aaron Campbell stepped up to give the keeper no chance.
Barn United again went straight up field and scored number five before Kuba Babuszewski scored a fine goal for Northend.
Northend now played their best football of the game and Aaron Campbell added his fifth goal of the season with another penalty when Caleb Thompson was pulled back when through on goal.
Barn United scored another goal before full time to end the Northend fight back. Northend will need to improve very quickly if they are to stop this slump in attitude and performances on match day.
